OMG, as my annoying teen daughters will squeak...
It's 2009 and that would mean that the class of 1979 graduated 30 years ago this year. Yikes. Pardon me while I defibrillate.
A teensy-weensy number, to use the technical term, of classmates have inquired about a 30th reunion. The most sensible thing I've heard, unless someone else would like to take the increasingly-doddering bull by the horns and do better, would be a dinner/gathering at the Caryville. (Update added 1/27/09: Shame on me; I ignorantly assumed that the whole world knew what "The Caryville" is. It's in what was Charlie's Village Inn back in 1979; the building across the parking lot from what used to be the Royal. Lyle and Bette Brion Starkweather bought it and in 2004 opened it as The Caryville Inn, a wonderful restaurant and gathering place in the heart of beautiful downtown Oakfield! This link has several photos from a 2006 reunion the Class of 1981 had on their back patio. I used to find it irritating when my parents would refer to Genesee County locales about which I had no idea - and I have now become them!)
Please post your thoughts below, or you can email me privately - ideas, dates, venue, all that. Opinions especially valued from the dwindling number who might actually come. Email from this link if you're registered with the site, or from the contact page if you're not.
Just to get your reunion juices flowing, enjoy some pictures from:

Our gathering - I want to emphasize that; it will be much more casual and laid back than what many expect from a "reunion" - will be Saturday August 15 at the Caryville Inn on Main Street in Oakfield. Explanation at the top of the thread for those unfamiliar with the Caryville.
Much more communication to follow in the months ahead. For now, if you're registered with the site and interested, just reply below. All are welcome; not just 1979 people. Or if you're too shy to do that, as it says at the top of the thread, email from this link if you're registered with the site, or from the contact page if you're not.
Want this to be fun? Twist the arms of your best friends from high school and insist that they come with you. |

Least-planned reunion of the four we've had - and also the best one ever, by far, I think.
Only picture received so far of the many taken that night.
Front row - Pat Casper, Muriel Neff Ventura, Kathy Couture Phillips, Leanne Skelton
2nd row - Sam Molaro, Joanne Lippold Kreher, Richard Johnson (first-time attendee), Joy Townsend Choi (first-time attendee), Mike Velletta (first-time attendee), John Myers
3rd row- Mark Leonard (first-time attendee), Jay Wolcott, Dave George, Kevin Fancher, Aron Kehlenbeck, Dennis Green (first-time attendee) |
