| Detail of the people in the Cary Seminary boxing photo. The Queensbury Rules requiring boxing gloves were published in 1867, but were not universally adopted for some decades afterward. Heavyweight champion John L. Sullivan boxed bareknuckles into the 1890's. These Oakfield boys had more sense. Viewed: 389 times.

| Invoice for oil cans purchased in 1890 from Harris Chapin Company on Main Street. This company patented a leak proof kerosene can which was a top seller in its day. Remember in the 1890's there was no electricity in Oakfield, lighting was from oil lamps.
The company later relocated to Batavia and today manufactures compressed air sprayers and hand sprayers. Its webpage is at: http://www.chapinmfg.com/history.htm
